Job Title: Excavator Operator – Hammer Attachment

Position Summary:
We are seeking a skilled and safety-conscious Excavator Operator with experience operating hydraulic hammer (breaker) attachments. Excavator Operators are responsible for a wide range of tasks on construction and mining sites, including operating heavy equipment to excavate, load, move, and grade materials. The ideal candidate is dependable, knowledgeable in safe operating procedures, and experienced in both standard and specialty excavation work.

Key Responsibilities:

• Safely operate excavators equipped with hydraulic hammer attachments to break rock, concrete, and asphalt.
• Operate one or more of the following equipment and/or machines as needed: dozer, front-end loader, backhoe, and excavator.
• Excavate rock, ore, and earth from construction pits, open-pit mines, strip mines, or quarries.
• Move, load, and grade soil, gravel, rock, or other materials using excavators and heavy equipment.
• Assist with roadway, clearing and commercial maintenance and repair using heavy equipment.
• Read and interpret blueprints, site plans, or design drawings to perform excavation tasks with precision.
• Perform site prep and trenching for construction, demolition, or utility projects.
• Conduct daily pre-operational inspections and routine maintenance, including greasing, cleaning, refueling, and checking fluid levels.
• Monitor equipment performance and report mechanical issues or maintenance needs.
• Communicate with ground crews and supervisors to ensure safe, coordinated operations.
• Maintain a clean and safe job site, adhering to OSHA standards and company safety policies.
• Assist with equipment and general labor duties as needed.

Requirements:

• Proven experience operating an excavator with a hydraulic hammer attachment in construction, demolition, or mining.
• Strong working knowledge of heavy equipment operation and job site safety practices.
• Ability to read and understand blueprints and site plans.
• Experience operating multiple types of heavy machinery (dozer, loader, backhoe, grader) is highly preferred.
• Basic mechanical skills and ability to perform preventative maintenance.
• Valid driver’s license; CDL preferred but not required.
• Must be able to work outdoors in all weather conditions and navigate uneven terrain.
• Physically able to lift 50+ lbs, sit for long periods, and climb in/out of equipment.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience working on road construction, utility, or mining projects
• Familiarity with other equipment such as skid steers or compactors

Working Conditions:

• Outdoor environments with exposure to heat, cold, rain, dust, and noise
• Physically demanding work on active construction or mining sites
• May require extended hours, nights, or weekends based on project schedules
