Job Description

Located in Danbury, CT, this K-12 school-based position offers a contract role for the current school year, focusing on supporting special education students as a Paraprofessional/Instructional Assistant.

This position involves assisting certified teachers in the supervision and instruction of students with special needs, following the guidelines outlined in individualized education plans (IEPs) and planning and placement team (PPT) recommendations. Key responsibilities include supporting student learning and educational goals, implementing individual and small group interventions under teacher supervision, and reinforcing skills and materials initially introduced by the teacher. A strong ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions, along with excellent judgment, patience, tact, and courtesy, is essential for success in this role.

Qualifications and experience desired include:

• High School Diploma required
• Meeting No Child Left Behind (NCLB) requirements by either:
  Possessing an Associates Degree or higher, or
  Successfully passing the Parapro Assessment Examination

Responsibilities:

• Support teachers in classroom management and instructional activities for special education students
• Assist in implementing instructional interventions to reinforce learning
• Supervise students to ensure a safe and supportive learning environment
• Communicate effectively with teachers and staff following established guidelines
• Exhibit professionalism, patience, and empathy in all student interactions
